The Raconteurs - Consolers Of The Lonely from weheartmusic.com
The Raconteurs release their sophomore album Consolers Of The Lonely through Third Man Records/Warner Bros Records on March 25th 2008. The album features 14 songs, including first single “Salute Your Solution”.

While its predecessor, Broken Boy Soldiers, was recorded on the bands own equipment in their homes, Consolers Of The Lonely gave them one of their first “big” studio experiences. The album was recorded at Blackbird Studio in Nashville, TN. The city has been their adoptive home since 2005.

The creative spark for the record was ignited during the time the band spent touring in 2006. Songwriters Brendan Benson (guitars, vocals, keys) and Jack White (guitars, vocals, keys) utilized their time on the road wisely, using sound checks and live shows as a chance to experiment and elaborate on their sound. Having recorded their first album before they’d ever played a show, The Raconteurs found that the time spent performing together gave them an opportunity to dig deeper into the songs. With the stellar rhythm section of Jack Lawrence (bass, vocals) and Patrick Keeler (drums) they gave every track from their repertoire a vigorous workout on stage, sometimes spinning it into an almost entirely new creation. By November of 2006, as they toured the east coast on an arena tour with Bob Dylan, they were winning accolades as one of the world’s best live acts.

Back in Nashville in May 2007 they made their first venture into the studio, putting a plethora of ideas down on 16 track tape; a method that gave them the freedom to try out arrangement and editing ideas they’d come up with during the writing process. When they came back to the ideas in the fall, following a brief hiatus where they all worked on other projects, they were able to turn them into a rich 14 song masterpiece, a far more bombastic and inventive album than their debut. Consolers Of The Lonely, with all of its twists and turns, is a spirited, dynamic and endlessly impressive album.
